At the Oceanography Institute, Isabel surprises Malena with a bouquet of flowers as a show of 'admiration' for her new appointment. Guillermo warns Lorena of the danger her son faces for having fled the Corona household without killing Marco Aurelio.

Gertrudis has the weapon to end her husband, but Marco Aurelio wakes up and she returns to reality. Don Lucio wants to know what the problem is with the dollar account. Elvis woos Virginia. Lorena decides to talk to Gertrudis but is petrified to see how the respectable Mrs. Corona and her brother-in-law Claudio kiss passionately.

Ricardo begins to entangle himself in his own web with María Bonita and seems to forget his goal: to discover the woman who cashed his mother's check. Once again, Pedro leaves Lorena with no way out, ordering her to shoot straight at Marco Aurelio's heart if she does not want to end up recognizing her son's corpse in a morgue - Elvis desperately asks Ricardo for help to get rid of the baby Virginia is expecting.

Guillermo tells Lorena that he will take care of raising Ignacio from now on. Lorena, unable to cope with the pressure she is under, yells at Guillermo that she cannot kill anyone and asks him to free her from this responsibility that does not belong to her. Marcus Aurelius asks his son to help Lorena recover her child and forget about her - Gertrudis orders Claudio to go to the house and press Lorena to kill Marcus Aurelius that same night. Claudio threatens to deliver Ignacio dead if she does not kill her brother that same night. Marcus Aurelius confronts Gertrudis, inviting her to abandon the farce because he already knows the whole truth.

Gertrudis confesses to her husband that Alberto is not his son. Marco Aurelio admits to Lorena that she was right; his brother and his wife are lovers. Desperate, Lorena, fearing for her son after being exposed, pulls out a gun and points it. Marco Aurelio is shot in the chest.

Gertrudis reminds Claudio of the convenience of keeping their relationship hidden to avoid raising suspicions while living the freedom of their love. Guillermo once again issues a death sentence on Alberto, should Lorena consider leaving him for Alberto. Alberto shows up at Lorena's house under the pretext of checking on Ignacio; she is terrified recalling Guillermo's threat, telling him that it's not a good idea for him to be there, but a lovestruck Alberto responds that he cannot, does not want to, nor plans to leave her life.

Gertrudis goes into a crisis when she sees the video recorded by Lorena, and to calm her down, Claudio kisses her on the mouth; both unaware that Norma and Lorena are witnessing everything.

Ricardo expresses his feelings for María Bonita in an attempt to pursue a serious relationship with her. Norma discovers that Gertrudis and Claudio are responsible for Marco Aurelio's death.
