Tod Lubitch (John Travolta) can only grow up in a completely sterile environment due to his defective immune system. He is therefore not allowed to leave his hermetically sealed room. Thanks to specially made protective clothing, Tod is given the opportunity to enter the outside world, which is unknown to him.
