A mysterious hitchhiker kills Deputy Sheriff Brian Mars, who is on his way to his new post. The murderer assumes Brian's identity and takes his position alongside his colleague, Deputy Sam Weyburn, without arousing suspicion. Brian Mars skillfully covers any traces that might reveal his crime.
